UNVEILING CANTERA

The name seems so unfamiliar to us and yet Cantera offers the exquisite texture, colors and warmth of the Southwest. It has that earthy touch, that subtle look, that silent elegance.
Millions of years ago, because of extreme volcanic
heat and pressure, a delicate and beautiful stone was born. Formed from volcanic dust and lava, compressed for many many years and washed into silt beds. It is a natural stone that is quarried in Mexico. Cantera is a sedimentary stone, strong, porous and malleable.
Cantera is a thermic stone, just perfect for our fluctuating high and low temperatures. The stone absorbs air and humidity, without causing it to contract or expand in varying weather conditions. For this same reason, Cantera can be installed indoor our outdoor.
Cantera stone can be elaborated into beautiful shapes. Century old artistic techniques have remained unchanged in its primitive execution. With these techniques and with the varied qualities of this stone, artisans are able to create beautiful columns, fountains, fireplaces, door and window surrounds, mosaic flooring, pool pavers and many other architectural features.
